BECOMING A FLOWERFlowers say colors. Flowers say shapes. Flowers say invitations. Flowers say opportunities. Flowers say futures. If you were a flower, what would you say? For the 2025 artist residency, Maria Gracia Echeverria and Split Rock Arts Founder, Jean Brennan, led a children’s collage workshop that invites participants to “become a flower” and pollinate their message with handmade flyers. These gatherings were held at the Elizabethtown Social Center and the Lakeside School at Black Kettle Farm.  
   Maria Gracia Echeverria is a Chilean designer/educator living in NYC. Her work combines graphic design, ecology, philosophy, ethnobotany, and cultural studies and seeks to foster interspecies connections. During the residency, Gracia also worked on her book,  “Becoming Flower” which presents the flower as a philosophical symbol, a strategy of inquiry, and a resource for reflection.
